2016 Chinese New Year Decor at City Square, Johor Bahru

It is the time of the year again when people are preparing for Chinese New Year which falls on 8th and 9th February 2016. Every year, I will try to visit City Square Johor Bahru to look at the Chinese New Year decor. I feel that their decor is creative and worth a visit.

Also, it is an appropriate time to shop for Chinese New Year goodies. There are numerous stalls selling all kinds of Chinese New Year food and other stuff. Weekdays is a good time to go if you don't like the crowds and the usual jam at Woodland's Customs.

DoubleTree By Hilton - Double Room

Posting a video of Doubletree By Hilton hotel - a double room which I recently stayed. The hotel is about 10 minutes walk  from Komtar JBCC mall. The room was spacious and comfortable; a nice place to spend the night. Will be posting photos on my website later on - ImageSingapore.com

Avengers Exhibit at City Square Johor Bahru

There was an exhibit of Avengers super heroes and villains characters at the atrium of City Square Mall, Johor Bahru. It coincide with the screening of the movie - Avengers, Age of Ultron at the cinemas in the mall itself. Lots of people especially kids; taking the opportunity to take photos of super heroes statues and figurines.

Tea Garden Restaurant at City Square Johor Bahru

Recently went to Tea Garden at Level 6 at City Square Mall. There is a small fishing pond with koi fishes and lots of greenery - which makes this place relaxing and spacious.

There is also a food court located at Level 6 - Dapurkita Food mall which was crowded with office workers during lunch hours. I went to Tea Garden Restaurant during lunch hour and the place is almost full. Luckily I was able to get a table for 2 in less than 5 minutes. I wasn't going there for lunch. In fact I wanted to find a place to rest and try out some light food.

There is also a outdoor section (non air conditioned ) where I saw mainly smokers dining there. The food came promptly after ordering. Overall I am not impressed with the food. The Chee Cheong Fun with curry gravy was just ordinary. There is a coffee shop stall at Meldrum street that sell this food item and it is really good. The Rojak was quite pathetic as well. In fact I prefer the Rojak at Chicken Rice Shop located in this mall. 

Anyway, I will try out their breakfast set - kaya toast, half boiled eggs and milk tea on my next visit. My friend love their Hainanese milk tea. 

City Square Mall Johor Bahru

Went down to City Square Mall in Johor Bahru last Saturday; which was also the first day of fasting month for the Muslims in Malaysia. The mall was decorating its atrium area for the Hari Raya festive sale. The few camels that were on display were an attraction; many people took the opportunity to take photos with these camel figurines.

City Square Mall is currently undergoing major renovation. Certain areas are opened for business; and hopefully more stores will be opening soon for this Hari Raya festive sale. I will visit this mall again in early August to see whether I can buy some Malay cookies and food at their Hari Raya promotion sale.
