Walked to Komtar JBCC Mall and saw beautiful decor for Hari Raya at the atrium. Lots of items are on sale - clothes, food, Hari Raya cookies etc. Surprisingly there were many shoppers here even on a Tuesday afternoon; perhaps due to the Singapore school holidays.

2017 Minions Fair at City Square Johor Bahru

There is a Minions Fair going on at City Square Johor Bahru during this June 2017 school holidays. Lots of Minions toys, keychains, figurines, bags etc are being displayed and available for sale. Here are some of photos of Minions -

Jalan Wong Ah Fook Johor Bahru 2017

Took some photos of the road Jalan Wong Ah Fook near City Square Johor Bahru.  Even since the revamp of the road there, there is a wide pedestrian walkway next to the canal. People can now walk peacefully without the need to look out for vehicles. Hopefully, there will be trees planted next to the pedestrian walkway to provide shade during the hot sunny afternoon.

However, crossing the road is still a challenge. As the traffic at Jalan Wong Ah Fook is constantly heavy, there is no pedestrian crossing or overhead bridge around City Square & Komtar JBCC mall area. The norm is seems is for pedestrian to dash across the road when it seems fit to do so. This method of crossing the road is dangerous but it works for most able people. However for senior citizens, crossing the road at Jalan Ah Fook is a real challenge. Perhaps the authorities can built an overhead bridge facing City Square/ Komtar JBCC mall to the opposite of  the canal.

Meal at Restoran Sayed near Perling Mall, Johor Bahru

Took a quick light meal with my friend in the afternoon at coffee shop called Restoran Sayed near Perling Mall. To locate this Indian coffee shop, go to the mall main entrance with Secret Recipe on your left. So with the door of the main entrance of the mall behind your back and Secret Recipe cafe on your left, just walk left on a straight minor road. Restoran Sayed is just a five minutes walking distance from the mall.

The food that I ate may not be the best that I have tasted in Johor Bahru. But it was good for a quick meal and the prices were economical too. There are a wide variety of Indian food that you can choose; and a equally big variety of cold/hot drinks as well. Service was fast and this Indian coffee shop seems to be busy with customers flowing in.

Angry Birds Activity Park at Komtar JBCC

Visited Komtar JBCC Mall and saw this Angry Birds Activity Park at Level 3 of the mall. It is great to have an activity theme park for kids so conveniently located in Johor Bahru Sentral - it is just minutes walk away from the Johor Bahru Customs and Excise building.

I didn't visited the theme park as I was with adult group at that time; doing our shopping at Komtar JBCC.   Anyway, here are some photos of this Angry Birds Activity Park.

Church of the Immaculate Conception, Johor Bahru

While I was staying at Doubletree by Hilton at Johor Bahru, I saw a old church next to the hotel. Found out that it was the Church of the Immaculate Conception. I understand that it is a historical Roman Catholic with a rich history dating more than 100 years.

Interesting there is also a school next to the church. The name of the school is S J K (C) St. Joseph, which is a primary school. The school has a large field compound.

I took an aerial view photos of the Church of the Immaculate Conception - taken from the swimming pool area of Doubletree by Hilton JB. I liked the colonial style of building structure of this church. I do hope to be able to visit it in the near future.

2016 Chinese New Year Decor at City Square, Johor Bahru

It is the time of the year again when people are preparing for Chinese New Year which falls on 8th and 9th February 2016. Every year, I will try to visit City Square Johor Bahru to look at the Chinese New Year decor. I feel that their decor is creative and worth a visit.

Also, it is an appropriate time to shop for Chinese New Year goodies. There are numerous stalls selling all kinds of Chinese New Year food and other stuff. Weekdays is a good time to go if you don't like the crowds and the usual jam at Woodland's Customs.

Holiday Villa Johor Bahru City Centre

There is a new 4 star hotel that is coming up next to KSL Mall and KSL hotel; it is the -
Holiday Villa Johor Bahru City Centre. The hotel website stated that the new hotel will be ready in March 2016. It is located along Jalan Dato' Sulaiman.



It is a 345 rooms hotel with restaurants, gym, infinity pool etc and specialty shops - hopefully the shops sell different products that are in KSL Mall. I took a few photos of the work in progress Holiday Villa Johor Bahru City Centre; while staying in KSL hotel. I noticed that a lot of work still need to done; not too confident that the hotel can commence operation in March 2016.





Anyway, I am looking forward to stay in the new Holiday Villa Johor Bahru City Centre when it is ready.

Took a short video of Komtar JBCC during the weekend. I liked the Marks and Spencer store over here; the toiletries and food sections have good selections of products.

Avengers Exhibit at City Square Johor Bahru

There was an exhibit of Avengers super heroes and villains characters at the atrium of City Square Mall, Johor Bahru. It coincide with the screening of the movie - Avengers, Age of Ultron at the cinemas in the mall itself. Lots of people especially kids; taking the opportunity to take photos of super heroes statues and figurines.
