Set Dinner at Taang Shi Fu Restaurant in Johor Bahru

I was at Taang Shi Fu restaurant in Johor Bahru recently with a friend. We were looking the menu at what to order for dinner and then placed the food orders with a young waiter. The waiter casually asked whether we would liked to try their set menu dinner for two. He said that the set dinner meal was definitely value for money.

We decided to proceed with the waiter's recommendation and had the set dinner meal. The set meal dinner was RM88 and when after adding service charges, towel and starter ( Guava with Chen Pi ), the total amount was RM107.75.

Overall, it was a good dinner meal and yes it was value for money. Here are the photos of the food that was served -

This is the Guava with Chen Pi - very crunchy and slightly sour in taste.

Black Chicken Herbal Soup - I liked this soup.

Fried beans with minced pork - the beans were crunchy and fresh.

Cod Fish with vegetables and herbs - This was the best dish. The cod fish was very fresh and I finished up all the gravy.

Silky Tou  Fu with mushrooms.

Longan and white fungus desert - Slightly too sweet.

One Jug of herbal tea - again slightly too sweet for me.

There is a choice of white or brown rice.

The Sky Executive Suites and Sky Loft in Bukit Indah

I saw 2 condominium developments that are close to the shopping malls in Bukit Indah - The Sky Executive Suites and Sky Loft. I think more condominiums will be built around the central town of Bukit Indah as I noticed some land had been fenced up.

The Sky Executive Suites is just opposite the TESCO mall and also Giant Supermarket. You need to cross over a busy 2 way streets to reach Giant supermarket from the condominium. This development looks liked an ordinary apartment building - totally white in color and a rectangle long balcony for the apartment unit. It seems to be empty as there was no cars or people moving in/out of the main gate.

The Sky Loft is still under work in progress and has a better location than the Sky Executive Suite. It is located next to AEON mall and opposite Granada Hotel. The AEON mall is a much better mall than TESCO in terms of tenants and shopping experience.

I guess many people are buying condominiums units and landed properties in Bukit Indah hoping it will provide a good return in investment or as a second home. If you are buying it for the purpose of renting it out, it may take months to find a tenant. I saw many units of The Sky Executive Suites being put up for rent in property portals. I think it is a tenant's market over here - the prospective tenant can choose and pick from the many units available.

CW6 Bus from Singapore to AEON Bukit Indah

Taking a bus from Boon Lay to Bukit Indah Johor Bahru is easy, convenient and cheap. Alternatively you can also take a bus from Jurong East Interchange to Bukit Indah. Both of the buses namely CW3 and CW6 stopped at the main road of AEON Bukit Indah shopping mall.

Hotel Granada in Bukit Indah, Johor Bahru

Recently stayed in Hotel Granada at Bukit Indah in Johor Bahru. I think this new hotel opened in late 2012. One main advantage of staying in Hotel Granada is the location - it is very close to AEON Shopping Mall and also 24 hours drive in Macdonald's restaurant.

I have written a review of Hotel Granada with a video of the deluxe room, if you are interested just follow the link below -

Galleria Kotaraya Mall - Update January 2013

I was at Johor Bahru yesterday to buy some Chinese New Year cookies and decided to walk over to Galleria Kotaraya Mall to see the progress of this mall.

Sad to see that many of the shops in this mall were still empty. I wonder why does it take so long for the management of this mall to bring in new tenants? The food court was opened which catered for mainly Muslim food lovers. Other food outlets include Papa Roti, Pizza Hut, KFC, Subway and Secret Recipe. As I had already taken my lunch, there was practically nothing else to see,

Hopefully the management of Galleria Kotaraya mall would expedite in bringing in more tenants selling a variety of merchandise. It would be good if this mall have a large supermarket as an anchor tenant; as there is currently no decent size supermarket around this place. City Square mall has a mini grocery shop at the basement; but the variety of food items are limited.

I will try to post an update again on this mall on the second half of this year.
